WhatsApp Will Stop Working Soon If You Have An Old Phone?

WhatsApp, from November 1, will stop working on your old phones. As the world’s largest used messaging platform will be updating the App.

It will stop working on older Android and iOS devices. As per the new and updated security patches of WhatsApp, it will automatically log out people using older Android and iOS smartphones. It has quoted privacy behind this move. 


“WhatsApp has said that the app will not be supporting older versions of both Android and iOS. Anyone with a smartphone supporting Android OS 4.1 and above and iOS 10 and above will be the only ones who will be able to use the messaging app,” WhatsApp said in a statement.

WhatsApp will be available to Android running OS 4.1 and above, iPhone running iOS 10 and beyond and KaiOS 2.5.0 and newer, including JioPhone and JioPhone 2.

One can also check their phone OS status in the Setting menu.

On the other hand, the Centre defended the legal validity of new IT rules requiring messaging apps, like WhatsApp, to trace the first originator of the information.

It says that the law empowers it to expect such entities to create safe cyberspace and counter illegal content either themselves or by assisting the law enforcement agencies.

As the reasons regarding technical difficulties cannot be an excuse to refuse compliance with this law.
